AI Is Eating Wall Street’s Lunch (or is it?)

You get the wrong take if you just read the headline.

TLDR; Yes, analyst jobs are dwindling... but AI has not taken their jobs. These jobs are gone because regulations have gotten stiffer and large banks have more internal red tape than ever before.

Read the article and you'll see Wall Street equity research has simply become irrelevant. Why?

Well if it takes 2 weeks to get some research piece out the door... chances are the opportunity to do anything with it are gone. And at least for equities... there is just sooo much data already out there already and its getting easier to consume.

Maybe someday we'll see AI completely replace an analyst. But before that I would hope analysts are looking for ways to leverage tech (including AI) to do-more-and-do-it-faster.

Instead of AI killing off an industry AI might just be the key to bringing Wall Street equity research back into relevance.
